Non Toxic Cornflower Fingerpaint

Finger Paint

Ingredients

  1. 3 Cups of Water
  2. 1 Cup of Cornflower
  3. Food Colouring, or Non Toxic Powder Paint
  4. 1 tablespoon of Dettol

Method:

  1. Get an adult to bring the water to boil in a large saucepan.get an adult to dissolve the  cornflour in a little cold water and add to hot water, stirring constantly. Boil until clear and thick (about one minute). Add the dettol (this helps it stop spoiling)
  2. To make fingerpaint, divide it into containers,  add desired food colouring – the colours should be VIBRANT!

Play with textures:

  • Offer it to the children while it is still warm to touch.
  •  A tablespoon of glycerine may be added to make it glossy.
  • A ½ cup of Lux soap flakes may be added to give fingerpaint a lumpy texture.
  • Add glitter, or sand to change the texture.

Store in refrigerator as it spoils in hot weather.

To use your fingerpaint – either splodge it all over a smooth surface like laminex, or a big sheet of plastic, or on damp sheets of paper
