As a homeschooling, attachment parent, I’m very conscious of the example I’m setting for my children. I’m very conscious of raising them to believe that they can be, do, or have anything they turn their hearts to, if they create it.
This is why I encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in my youngsters. I encourage them to create their desires. Even if, in 20 years time they all decide to become employees, I know that I will have instilled a really powerful mindset into each of them
They will be powerful contributors in society, and capable of achieving their dreams.
1 – Entrepreneurs Are Creators Not Destroyers
By nature, the entrepreneur is a creator, in fact, entrepreneurial individuals tend to be serial creators. Often excited by new and shiny concepts! I’m actively choosing to raise my children to seek creative ways to achieve their dreams.
A friend of mine’s children says “don’t ask Mom for a loan, she’ll ask you for a business plan”
I think that little maxime is fantastic – it teaches our children that they CAN have what they want out of life, they simply have to be resourceful enough to create it.
2 – Entrepreneurs Build Communities
Well, just look at Natural Parenting Tips! I wanted a place where I could chat about my mad lifestyle, and find like minded people to network with, so I created it.
Taking that concept further, its entrepreneurs not governments that facilitate community – if it wasn’t for passionate business owners, many community initiatives simply wouldn’t exist.
I firmly believe as we move into the next part of this decade, that a more nurturing energy will be driving the world, and it will be heart-centered businesses leading this change.
3 – Entrepreneurs Have Positive Outlooks
Entrepreneurs HAVE to have positive outlooks – there is no other breed of person on earth who can look at what others might consider as abysmal failure and see opportunity in it!
I want my children to see each of life’s lessons as an opportunity to learn, grow, or flourish.
4 – Entrepreneurs Are Never Out Of Work
There is the opportunity of the century approximately every month! And it’s the entrepreneurial type who take these opportunities and turn them into amazing ventures.
I’ll sleep soundly at night knowing that my children won’t lose their livelihood if their ONE boss fires them: at least if a customer fires them, they can simply find another. With a boss firing them, they need a new job: there isn’t much security in that.
5 – Entrepreneurs Believe In Themselves
If I could leave one value for my children, it would be a really powerful sense of self worth. Entrepreneurs naturally have to believe in themselves, and be able to convince others to do so – otherwise hare brained schemes like the airplane, the light bulb, and the internet would simply not exist.
A healthy sense of self belief and worth is a powerful personality attribute, and I think it’s a gift to any child.
6 – Entrepreneurs Change The World
This is probably the reason I’m most passionate about, you see, I don’t believe it’s governments or politics that ignite change in the world, I believe it’s entrepreneurs. Beginning in their own communities, I believe that a business owner who runs their business with passion and heart has more of an effect on their community than any government ever can have.
Businesses fund the change – entrepreneurs create businesses – let’s raise a generation of dynamic, heart-centered, young dynamos!
